At Strathnaver Museum we have lots of fun educational activities for families to take part in on-site which we are now working on making available on our website. Over the coming weeks we will develop and add to the resources here so that you can support your children’s learning and keep them entertained.
Make your own Melness Shoe
In 2012 artist in residence Joanne B Kaar explored the mystery of the ‘Melness Shoe’ which was found hidden in the wall of a house being refurbished. Alongside the shoe was the dog skin buoy, on display in Strathnaver Museum, and an empty bottle of whisky! You can make your own Melness Shoe with Joanne’s handy template and instructions.
Other things to try:
- Why not hide your shoe in your house with a message for someone else to find.
