Artist Residency Opportunity 2024

Strathnaver Museum is delighted to announce 2 x 3 month artist residency opportunities!

Strathnaver Museum want to make our collection more accessible and so community engagement will be a key component of the residency. We particularly want to engage with a more diverse audience, such as harder to reach audiences, for us this is young people and older men.

Art and craft activities have proven benefits to health and wellbeing, provide socialisation opportunities, and studies have suggested it may even alleviate the symptoms of dementia. We want to enhance people’s quality of life by using art and heritage to improve wellbeing, support learning, and / or contribute to place making.

We are keen to develop interdisciplinary approaches to address often complex and contentious issues such as land use, the climate emergency, and the impact and effect of colonialism. We have established partnerships with several local groups who we have collaborated with in the past and can supply successful artists with contacts. But we are also interested in expanding our network locally, nationally, and internationally and would welcome opportunities to do so, either through artists established contacts or supporting them to establish links with identified groups.

Further details are available in the Artist Residency Brief.

Deadline: 15 July 2024
